FAQs
1. How do we avoid the gear broken?
First, you need to choose the DC gear motor with proper rated torque. When you use or test gear motor, the load torque is no more than motor’s and gear’s max torque. Avoid to stay at stall long time.
If your application hits stall or uses stall torque, please let us know before building samples.2. What is stall torque?
Stall torque is when you supply power to motor, but motor output speed is zero. Motors in a stalled condition may be prone to overheating and possible damage if the current flowing under these conditions becomes higher than the maximum continuous rating. And then the motor will be bunred keeping stall at long time.
3. How do we reduce the noise level for DC gear motor?
This is a common question asked from our customers. We have many methods to reduce the noise. For example, using different gear materials, grease, ball bearings, reducing noise from DC motor, changing or modifying the gearbox mechanism, adjusting the output parameter, etc.
4. How to choose a suitable DC gear motor
To choose a suitable DC gear motor, pls advise our sales about your requirements for the voltage, speed and torque of the motor, as well as the application and space limit if any. These messages will be transfered to our R&D team to work out proposals.
5. What is max efficiency for DC gear motor?
The efficiency of a DC motor is defined as the ratio of output power to the input power. The max efficiency is at max ratio.
6. How do you avoid the motor burned?
Using the motor within the specified range. Don’t keep the motor at stall continuously long time. If the DC motor’s commutator is damaged or lots of carbon is on commutator, please replace a new commutator.
7. How do you get the proper torque during test?
Please test at rated voltage, rated torque and rated speed at the beginning. And then increase the voltage little by little, such as 12.1V, 12.2V, 12.3V……When you increase a point, the motor rotate your product well, please notes this voltage value and current value. We will calculate the proper torque and speed according this point’s voltage and current.
8. 12V-100rpm DC gear motor have the same torque as a 24V-100rpm DC gear motor?
Yes. If you use 12V, we will manufacture 12V samples. If you use 24V, we manufacture 24V.
9. How do you caculate the output rated torque and output rated speed?
Gearbox output speed = DC motor speed/gear ratio
Gearbox output torque =DC motor torque*gear ratio*efficiency10. Why planetary gear motor has the longer lifetime than worm gear motor and spur gear motor?
Because of the special planetary gearbox, one sun gear and three planetary gears. The gearbox also has gear tooth. Always two or three teeth joggle to other gears. The grease is keeping in gearbox.
11. What is DC motor?
A Direct Current (DC) motor is a rotating electrical device that converts direct current, of electrical energy, into mechanical energy.
12. What is DC gear motor?
DC gear motor is DC motor with reduction gearbox. The addition of a gear head to a motor reduces the speed while increasing the torque output. The most important parameters in regards to gear motors are speed (rpm), torque (lb-in) and efficiency (%).
13. How to choose a suitable motor for my project?
You can advise us your requirements for voltage, speed(load or free load) and rated torque, based on these parameters we would work out the suitable solutions.
14. Do you have encoders?
Yes, we have dual channel hall sensor encoders for different model motors.
15. Can you customize motors for our project?
Yes, if our current gear motors can not meet your requirements, our R&D team will propose customized solutions. If the solutions are acceptable on your side
We will further access the prototypes costs, tooling cost and production cost.
